At 98 years old Mel Brooks is giving “life goals”, bringing back his cult classic Spaceballs, after many many decades, three decades to be exact. The writer/producer/director/actor will be a Centenarian, or 100 years old, when Spaceballs returns in 2027. And, although Mel Brooks is nearly 100, he appears to have the energy of a teenager in the movie teaser.

Spaceballs Returns With a Star Wars Reference

The Spaceballs 2 trailer features scrolling text similar to the style of a Star Wars credit roll. It tells us several movies that have produced sequels, prequels and the likes between 1987 and today while making sure we know there’s only ever been one Spaceballs.

Which begs the questions, does the world need another sequel? Does the original stand firm without a follow up? Because sequels and prequels can be a hit or miss depending on the storyline, we hope Mel has a script that makes the world laugh.

Who’s Featured in Spaceballs 2

The movie will bring back multiple comedic characters from the first film, and new characters including Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman & Keke Palmer according to Deadline.

As of now, full details about the storyline are not available, but there may be Spaceballs the sweatshirt’s available for sale. Mel Brooks wears the sweatshirt in his YouTube promo trailer, and because Spaceballs features similar gear in the original film there’s no way it’s not already on a website for sale. If you locate the website please put it in the comments.
